Demo 1.0 Changelog
Lavender Hollow (Demo!) » Devlog

Lavender Hollow's completed demo was released earlier this year! This update brings a ton of changes, including a complete dialogue system overhaul, audio, changes to the visual style, and plenty of bugfixes. Here is a list of what's changed from the last version of the demo:
Narrative
- We were previously using the ink dialogue system with the GodotInk package. We've replaced this with the Godot Dialogue Manager, as it's written for Godot specifically and has much more readable syntax. Along with this, we rewrote our entire script to match the new syntax system.
- One new ghost quest: the Well Ghost, who can be found after you have finished the other four ghost quests.
- There are now two new areas to explore, including accompanying dialogue: the old well and the front of the house.
- Daisy now has end-of-demo dialogue after the Well Ghost's quest has been completed.
- Lots of grammar and wording corrections.
- Some dialogue has been added or changed to make Tien and the Trapped Salamander's quests clearer.
Graphics
- Camera angle has been lowered.
- The world environment now has a FOV blur to make distant objects properly appear more distant.
- Daisy's and Emmy's sprites have been updated
- Every single model has been remade from scratch!
- New models added: stones, barriers, trees, the old well, stairs, ledges, and more.
- Item sprites have been refreshed with borders to make them easier to see.
- Ghasty now has a walking animation.
- The entire UI has been revamped to fit the game better, including new fonts and styles.
Audio
- All sound effects and music in this version are brand new! They include...
- The Well Ghost's song
- Walking sound effects
- Door opening/closing sound effects
- Splashing, lowering the well bucket, and coin flip sounds for custcenes in the Well Ghost's quest
- "Voice" sound effects - each character now has a unique voice that reacts to their dialogue lines!
- Menu sound effects
Bugfixes
- Ghasty no longer clips through objects or walls if they approach them from the bottom.
- Menus, items, and dialogue that share a hitbox now occur one-at-a-time instead of simultaneously.
This is the completed version of the demo. Any future updates will likely be limited to small QOL updates or bug fixes as we focus on completing the main game! We will post occasional updates here, but if you'd like to hear from us more often, consider joining our Comradery. Thanks for playing!
